Skull base

Complex exposure through both the face and nose to remove tumours of the front part of the skull base, avoiding damage to vital structures like the brain and eyes.

  • Temporal bone resection involves a open approach with the aid of a microscope to remove the bone housing the ear structures (middle part of the base of skull) because of cancer often originating in the ear canal or pinna extending into the canal.
  • Infratemporal fossa tumour resections of tumours behind the jaw in the middle of the skull.
  • Resection of Jugular and Vagal Paragangliomas which are tumours of the jugular vein and vagus nerve that leave the skull.
