Salivary glands and sialoendoscopy

  • Removal of tumours or stones originating in the salivary glands, the major glands being most commonly affected (parotidectomy and submandibulecotmy), but sometimes the minor ones in the mouth or throat.
  • Sialoendoscopy involves cannulation of the natural openings of the parotid or submandibular salivary glands with a small camera in order to diagnose or treat causes of salivary gland obstruction.
